The test drive we did this time is CBR1000RR SP.
This model had a very high evaluation at international test ride.

This time I tried on the mountain path around Hakone and the public road.
The first impression I felt is a very like CBR1000RR.
I have ridden CBR since the first generation, and I have owned one.
In a word it is “Normal Evolution”.
The traditional CBR’s “total control” is felt well.
I think that it is finished in a motorcycle that anyone can ride easily.
Electronic control is introduced this time.
The OHLINS suspensions on front and rear are electronically controlled.
Everything except preloading is electronically controlled.
The setting of the suspension is switched automatically by switching riding mode.

Although 192 hp is a power that can not be handled very much, it is a very mild and easy to handle bike.
Because the computer adjusts an optimal easy-to-handle engine response.
Therefore I felt the engine very mild.

Also, I switched the mode and tried it.
There are three preset modes, there are two manual modes.
Mode 1 is for track riding, mode 2 is for winding road, mode 3 is for town ride and rainy weather.
In manual mode, you can set the setting by yourself.
Switching modes, it will change the suspension, engine brake, traction control, etc. to the optimum setting.
This time it was easy to ride in Mode 3 because the road surface temperature was low and there were many tight pass roads.
The power is calm and the suspension moves well.
In Mode 3, I found that the suspension became softer and absorbed the unevenness of the road surface.
It’s not too soft.
Damping force is controlled firmly, and it was easier to handle.
Handling is very stable.
The handling is similar to the successive CBR1000RR.
There is nothing like oversteering.
It is easy to handle in touring.

Let’s straddle.
The suspension will move normally when it is stopped.
The seat height is 820 mm, which is standard height for super sport model.
Compared with the conventional model, the position of the handlebar is felt a little low.
I feel a little tight tilted posture.
There are enough turning angles of the handlebar, and you can make a U turn normally.
There is also torque at low speed.
It is truly CBR.

There are many good points, there is no way to mention small points,
The quick shifter is installed and you can change the gear without clutch operation.
ABS also has high accuracy, it is a very natural feeling of motion.
It is CBR1000RR with full of electronic control.
In a word it is “Normal Evolution”.
It is a motorcycle that expanded the frontage of conventional CBR and increased the limit.
