I don't think there will be any holes in the Core without it, but I installed it because I don't want to crush the Core in an insect Attack or accident during a car wash.
The grain is fine, and although it is thin, it is a stainless steel plate, so it is unlikely that Damage will occur on the core.
Also, since the logo is large, even HALF COWL GPs can see a glimpse of it through the gap between the cowl and the fender, and I think it has a sufficient dress-up effect.
Installation is easy without the need to remove the cowl, but requires a 7mm Wrench and a 2.5mm hex, which are not commonly used on motorcycles.
